The National Primary Industries Animal Welfare Research, Development and Extension Strategy (NAWRDES) encourages greater co-investment and collaboration on a National basis to improve the efficient use of RD&E resources in the field of livestock animal welfare.

We work with Australia's livestock sectors to determine priority areas for cross-sectoral animal welfare RD&E. This approach delivers economies of scale and a more efficient use of research capability.

Maintaining Animal Welfare Research Capability
A key component of the Strategy is to maintain Australia's capability in the field of Animal Welfare RD&E. We do this by identifying gaps in capability and working together to address the need.
Inclusive Discussion
The Strategy hosts an annual Forum which brings together Australia's providers of Animal Welfare RD&E along with industry funders, animal welfare groups and Government representatives.
Communication of Outcomes
The Strategy aims to provide regular updates on commissioned RD&E projects along with project reports. These outputs can be found on this site.
